ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mariann Haukaas was born 14th of November 1963, in Oslo Norway. She was passionate about painting since she was a young girl. In 1983, 19 years old, she went to Denver, USA to work as an au-pair, taking care of children. At the same time, she attended several painting classes. In 1985 she started to study Commercial art at college in Denver, for 3 years. After finishing her studies, she worked for 8 months as an intern at Channel 4 News, KCNC TV, a part of NBC television, in the art department in Denver. She worked under the strict rules of art, and was a protégé of Tom Mares, who had won awards for his art in USA. In 1989 Mariann went back to Norway, after staying 6 years in USA. The same year she opened a “stand” with hand painted underwears, clothes, and glasses, in one of Oslo’s biggest shopping centers, Oslo City, in downtown Oslo. After working more than 5 years with a “stand”, she opened her first little art shop. In one of Oslo downtown’s most busy shopping centers, Arkaden. There she had a great business from 1995 to 2010. Mariann worked basically day and night painting after the customer’s wish, including selling her own design on glass products, vases, plates, t-shirts, and paintings. She also wrote personal text, on most of the items that she sold. Her business was blooming. After 15 years in her art shop, she had to close down because of a very bad concussion. She had been brutally knocked down by an ex-boyfriend. She was lucky to be alive. She could have been dead, or seriously been damaged for life. Still, she was suffering from Post Commotio Syndrome (chronic concussion.) After a one-year break, she opened a new and much bigger art shop across the street from the shopping center, in the spring of 2011. Here she sold her hand painted glassware and paintings. Because of the head injury, the big shop became too much for Mariann to handle. In fall of 2012 she had to close down. Nevertheless, Mariann did not give up her art dream. In September of 2013, she once again opened a new little art shop in the same area, “Kirkeristen”. In 2018 she realized that she was too sick, and closed down her little art shop. Instead she decided to finish her manuscript. Her life story. A book of 522 handwritten pages about her amazing, yet very dramatic life.

In 2020 she published her book on her own; “ONE LIFE Seven Stories, Walk Towards the Light”. It became her mission in life, to get her difficult life story, out in the open. She therefore wrote her story in English, so it could go worldwide. In 2024, after being away from work for almost 6 years, due to her chronic concussion. Still, she started her dream and passion once again; ART. This time in a 160m2 big gallery. Galleri Art on the menue in Vollen in Asker, outside Oslo. A tourist place right next to the sea. Finally she was back on track, Being the visual artist that she had been longing for, for such a long time. The same year she also made another dream come true. After writing a film manuscript, a psycho thriller/horror story, based on two of her many tragic, yet amazing life stories. The name of the film is;“MARIANN In the footsteps of a demon”. It was accepted to become a movie in USA by an award winning film producer from Hollywood. The film is about Mariann’s very horrifying life experience in a relationship with a foreign man who becomes extremely dangerous. His plan, after Mariann’s break-up, is to kill her. She should have been dead. After many years of bad luck, 2024 was finally HER YEAR, to make all of her dreams come true. Mariann have painted for many famous people over the years, such as: The President of Pakistan. Nobel Prize winner: Professor Yunus, The Queen of Ghana: Nana Nkansa, MC Hammer, Fantastic Negrito, The Danish Royal House. The Ambassador of Arizona, Magne Myrmo, Bjørn Dæhlie, Ole Ivars, Ibrahim Tatlises, Carl I. Hagen, Per Sandberg, Herodes Falsk, Nils Arne Eggen, Aylar Lie, Jon Hervig Carlsen, Jan Werner, The Great Garlic Girls, and Smokey. Mariann has painted and sold more than: 130.000 glasses, 18.000 plates, 12.000 vases and wine holders, and more than 300 large paintings. When Mariann is not painting, she lives a quiet and beautiful life with her foreign man and all her animals in the countryside right outside Oslo.
